Travel has always been the greatest of my passions, there's nothing more exciting for me than discovering a new country or culture.It's all about the change of context: the smells, the sounds, the colours, the flavours, the people, the unique energy every place has.
It's the opportunity to find beauty, wonder and magic in small details and everyday situations.
By the age of 7 I had already lived in six countries, I guess that is how it all started...
I remember for example when I was 10, while my friends were on the street playing football like most kids, I was in the library delving deep into encyclopedias, atlases and of course my 'bible': the National Geographic magazine.
I spent entire days completely fascinated by all these different places and people, how they lived, what their countries looked like, what they ate, their languages and cultures, dreaming of great adventures in those distant exotic lands...
This blog is my attempt at sharing some of my favourite places on this amazing planet of ours.
Jack receives a special present on holiday in the Azores Islands aged 13, an old camera with a few rolls of film, and the boy is instantly hooked documenting every aspect of the journey.
This eventually leads to 4 years studying Photography and Languages in the UK, starting at Filton College and finally graduating from the Falmouth School of Art and Design.
Aiming at becoming a Travel/Reportage photographer also trained in Photojournalism with Tim Page (of Vietnam War fame) and was intern with 2 newspapers.
In 1996 starts working in London shooting for magazines, events and PR firms.
After moving to Portugal in 1999 a chance meeting leads to shooting model portfolios, and he is introduced to a new world of creative possibility in Fashion photography.
Since then he evolves to work mostly in Fashion and Advertising in Portugal, also with spells in Sweden and the UK, shooting campaigns, editorials and catalogues.
His Portuguese CV includes major fashion brands like Salsa Jeans, Cheyenne and Throttleman, plus corporate clients like ICEP, Sonae and FC Porto, together with several shopping centers, casinos, music labels, real estate and model agencies.
He has also shot internationally for Cosmopolitan, FHM and Joy magazines, major brands like Nivea and Sols, and owns a model portfolio business based in Stockholm.
Since 2005 he mixes the Fashion and Advertising work with spells shooting Travel for Image Banks in London and New York, specialized in Asia and the Middle East, a partial return to his roots in Photojournalism.
After a long love affair with Asia he relocates to Bangkok in 2011 where he is now based, with frequent work visits to Europe.
